What client service techniques make you feel like a valued consumer in a retail environment?

What was your best experience in a shopping mall, salon, coffee shop, restaurant, etc? Why was the experience great? I am brainstorming ideas to share with the excutives of a growing company in an effort to keep our team ahead of our industry. I was hoping I could get some general feedback from everyone!
