Why install a DVD Burner?

I have been using the DVD Burner that came with my PC at purchase. For 2.5 yrs. now, it has done a wonderful job. It does however, take about 2-2.5 hours to encode and burn a FREE Doentary or movie. What seems to be the most important part of this process is, installing a download client such as Vuze or Utorrent and a program such as K-lite. Is there a faster way or better program out there? Please advise me on this one!
