What is the difference between Ultram ER and Percocet they both have opiates in them?

can anyone tell me the difference between them I have been on several websites and one will say it is a narcotic and the other will say it is a non-narcotic but they both have opiates in them so what is the difference? my doc gave them to me and he gave me percocet for in between for severe pain thanks for the help
